What is a PCU / Photoconductor?A photoconductor is a semi-conductor which transforms optical images into images printed on paper.First, the surface of the photoconductor drum is electrically charged. Light is then applied to this surface in the form of pictures or characters, canceling the charge in the areas of the surface exposed to the light and creating an electrical image called a "latent image". Next, toner is passed over the surface and is electrostatically attracted to the latent image. When paper is then passed over the drum, the toner is transferred to the paper. |
